This planning document maps AACN Domains and Competencies to Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) for the FNP–Gerontology program. Its purpose was to enable the Program Director to clearly demonstrate compliance with AACN standards.
The program needed to show AACN alignment at two levels:
Initially, it was unclear how to demonstrate that both levels aligned to AACN domains in a way that was reviewable, defensible, and easy to interpret.
I developed an alignment structure where each Course Learning Outcome mapped in two directions:
This ensured that every course outcome could be traced upward to program intent and outward to accreditation standards.
